Now 25, Henderson is seeking regular first team football. If EtH can’t guarantee him number 1 (unlikely) it’s wise to cash in now and invest in a new keeper.

With his contract expiring this summer and an unsuccessful loan to Marseille, United should allow Bailly to leave on a free.

Alex Telles | 30 | ‘23 | €14m

Loaned out to Sevilla, Telles is out of contract this summer and is another who should be allowed to leave on a free.

De Gea | 32 | ‘23 | €15m

This divides opinion. For many De Gea still remains a top class goalkeeper and he still has his moments of brilliance. But, unless he’s willing to drastically reduce his wages and accept a bit-part role in the 23/24 season, it’s time for David to move on.

Harry Maguire | 29 | ‘25 | €30m

Club captain but current 4th choice CB. Maguire has seen Shaw start at CB over him in recent weeks. His time at United is surely up as he will seek more first team football.

Do I need to say more? Release on a free.

Axel Tuanzebe | 25 | ‘23 | €6m

Despite some glimpses of brilliance, Tuanzebe is 25 and struggled to ever stake a claim to a starting spot. Time to let him move on.

Brandon Williams | 22 | ‘24 | €10m

After a decent loan spell at Norwich in 21/22 Williams has failed to gain any meaningful minutes this season at United. Another to ship on.

Van De Beek | 25 | ‘25 | €20m

Now injured for the remainder of the ‘23 season, Donny never seems to have found his lucky break in Manchester. Best for both parties to move him on I think.

There are also other players on the fringes who you think will seek assurances about their minutes going into the 23/24 premier league season. Amad Diallo (20), Elanga (20), and Pellestri (21) are probably all fighting for one or two spots and you’d expect to see at least one of these wingers move on permanently or on loan next season.

Coupled with the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo mid-season, Erik Ten Hag is likely to have a lot of wiggle room this summer to refresh the squad with a significant amount of money removed from the wage bill.
